Wentworth country fans at the Wentworth Bowling Club were treated to a night of country history with Amber Joy Poulton and The Holy Men’s Queens of Country event. Poulton wrote in an email interview that the 14th January concert featured “all the songs and sagas of the Queens of Country,” with tribute performances to Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, June Carter Cash, Dolly Parton and more.
Poulton is one of Australia’s rising country stars. She’s received several accolades and awards, including a 2015 Tamworth Songwriters Association Best Contemporary Ballad nomination, a 2015 People’s Choice Award nomination for Best Female Vocalist and Best Album, the 2013 SA Fowlers Award for Best SA Country Music Act, a 2012 TIARA Award, and several more. Poulton has also had several Top 30 hits, with “I’ll Fly Away,” “Maybe Baby,” “Foolish Things,” “Rosalie,” “Break Even,” “Taking Goodbye,” and “Close Enough.” Poulton is also putting her stamp on Nashville itself with her latest album, “Foolish Things,” which was recorded in the legendary country music capital. The album is only the next step in Poulton’s evolution as a country star.
Poulton and The Holy Men are taking their Queens of Country event on tour, and to promote all of their events, the Poulton has been actively using Facebook to reach out to fans and friends. For this particular Wentworth venue, Poulton wrote that along with Facebook, she used email blasts to fans, had flyers delivered by sporting club, and put up posters around town. However, Poulton wrote that the best method of promotion was word of mouth.
The concert had a sizable turnout. “We had 150 people there,” she wrote, also saying that it was great to see the concert-goers “enjoying the music and the songs.”
Many of our readers are either singers or promoters, and maybe you are reading this in the hopes of gathering more information on how you can make your upcoming concert a success. Poulton gave a tip as to how to make events successful, and what it boils down to is excitement. “Love what you do and then no matter what the size of your crowd, you’ll enjoy yourself.”
