Functional Fitness Plus Gives Back with National Diabetes Week Charity Bootcamp

Gisbourne, Victoria’s Functional Fitness Plus gave their patrons a chance to give to others with July 16th’s Functional Fitness National Diabetes Week Charity Bootcamp. The event, stated owner and head coach Kris Preston, had plenty of chances for people to win awesome prizes.

“In support of Diabetes Australia, we held a charity bootcamp with a gold coin donation,” he wrote. “We raffled off a heap of prizes including a spot on our luxury fitness retreat to Bali in October as well as playing numerous little games that were fitness related.” According to the event’s raffle ticket, the fitness retreat is valued at $2,400, which made for quite the prize.

The charity bootcamp is just one of the many things Functional Fitness Plus to give back to the community and Australia at large. Between hosting regular challenges and asking their FFP Facebook community for donation ideas, Functional Fitness Plus always puts its focus on people and their wellbeing, not just their outward appearances. With Functional Fitness Plus, the goal is to help people achieve their best selves at their own level. “We individualise your program to suit your lifestyle and to turn your weaknesses into your strengths,” states the company’s website. “We aren’t your ‘every day gym’ and we aren’t set up like one…We train together in an environment that is friendly, un-intimidating and fun. You will get high 5’s and slaps on the back every time you walk through our door.”

To spread the word about the charity bootcamp, Preston stated that he utilized the community itself. “We have a great group of members down here, we have our own community within an already awesome community in the Macedon ranges,” he wrote. “Word of mouth through the gym was how we advertised it.”

Due to community support, the event was a huge success. “It ran extremely well, we raised over $1,850 for Diabetes Australia,” wrote Preston. “We had 54 people from all walks of life turn up and donate. It was brilliant. The best part is seeing everyone come together to get behind such a great cause, give back, sweat it out and enjoy themselves.”

If it can’t be said that Functional Fitness Plus gives back, then maybe Preston’s event planning advice will drive the point home: “Give, give, give.”
